Cat Door Advice
Training Your Pet to Use A Door
Most normal, well adjusted pets can almost certainly be trained to use a petdoor! All it takes is a little patience and before you know it your pet will be loving the new freedom of being able to come and go.
How Long Should Training Sessions Be?
Limit training sessions to no more than 10 minutes at a time. Any more than that may have the adverse effect of putting your pet off.
Helping Your Pet
Start by taping the flap open, until your pet becomes confident about going in and out. Then try holding the flap open for your pet. Gradually reduce the size of the gap as he gets more used to pushing on it.
Tasty Treats
Entice Your Pet with Treats
Pets love treats. Put something tasty that your pet loves on the other side of the door. Gently encourage your pet to push through the pet door and get it.
